”Pray and work”. Latin phrase and traditional slogan of the Benedictines, referring to the monastic practice of working and praying. “Idleness is the enemy of the soul. Therefore the brethren should be occupied at certain times in manual labor, and again at fixed hours in sacred reading”- Rule of St Benedict, 48. The motto is featured in a contemporary saw, but representing the manual labor done by the beloved carpenters of Nazareth, Jesus Christ and His foster father, Saint Joseph. The letters are a different wood color for contrast and legibility. The different layers and wood stains colors create a realistic, 3D effect.
